Sustainable architecture is synonym with sustainable building design. Its purpose is to reduce the collective impacts over the environment during the production of construction materials, the building process and the life cycle of the building – for example when it heats or when it uses electricity. Sustainable building design respects all the social, economic and ecological principles. It seeks to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by moderation and efficiency in use of energy, materials and space. The sustainable architecture is based on the idea of sustainability and ecological design, which is to ensure that our decisions and actions do not inhibit the opportunities of our future generations. A sustainable building design will function for its intended purpose without fossil fuel. Instead of reducing pollution architects try to seek to function without pollution at all.
Heating, cooling system and ventilation efficiency
Depending on the general climate, designers put a lot of dedication into creating a sustainable heating or cooling system. In warmer climates the cooling system is the primary concern, and in colder climates the heating system is the primary focus. For example, in warm climates there are combined building materials with high thermal mass that are able to retain the cool temperatures during the night throughout the day.
Renewable energy generation
They are electrically connected modules which are mounted on a supporting structure. The modules contain many solar cells which capture the solar energy and transform it into electricity supply. A good sustainable building design should take its electricity supply from solar panels.

Solar water heating
By the help of a solar thermal collector, a solar water heating is the conversion of sunlight into energy for water heating purposes. This system is easily compatible with any home. Most buildings allow transforming their original water heating system into an ecological solar water heating system.
They work just like an air conditioning system but they are mounted backwards on the opposite side in order to release the hot air inside the building instead of releasing it in the environment. Heat pumps are three or four times more efficient than the simple electrical resistance heaters are. A house that’s projected with a sustainable building design doesn’t necessarily has to be more expensive to live in or to be built. These systems may not be so cheap as the ordinary ones but take them as investments that you will recover in time.
